Community Events

At Cox Insurance, we’ve been finding joy in family, fun, and community. Last year we were grateful to be able to get back to hosting client appreciation events. Many of you recently attended our Valentine's Day party where we got to sample delicious, local chocolate from Creo Chocolate. It was great getting to see so many of our friends and clients face to face. Check out the pictures from some of our favorite recent events. We hope to see you at the next gathering. Keep an eye on your inbox for those invitations.

Our business thrives thanks to your referrals!

In this competitive industry, we are thankful to continue to be able to grow and thrive because of the great people our clients and friends send our way. We value your trust and thank you for your support. If you know someone who could use some expert, local, thoughtful assistance with their home, earthquake, auto, business, or umbrella insurance, we would be happy to take great care of them. Feel free to send us their contact information and we will reach out. Did you know that for every client referral we receive and quote, we donate $5 to a local charity? This is just one of the ways we give back to our community. We would love to hear about organizations that you feel passionate about. We are looking for great people doing great things to support.

Last year, we focused our donations on Bybee Lakes Hope Center. This groundbreaking project has transformed the never-occupied, 155,400 square-foot Wapato Correctional Facility in the Port of Portland into a trauma-informed, data-driven transitional housing facility to support Portland Metro community members experiencing homelessness. We have been so honored to support their essential work through donations and volunteer hours.

Finding Fun!

Insurance allows you to prepare for things that can go wrong. It’s equally important to enjoy everything that is going well. For us, that means exploring some of the great restaurants our area has to offer. Here are some of the places we’ve loved in the past few months!

Emily Cox:

G-Love
We visited this cool restaurant last Fall. It was more than a meal. It was an experience. Creative décor, excellent service, fantastic food, and inventive cocktails. I highly recommend for a fun night out with friends.

Corey Cox

Momoyama
This restaurant offers modern Japanese fare and sushi that’s ideal for a special occasion splurge! We celebrated our son Noah's 18th birthday here and the meal blew our minds. We especially loved the tuna tower.

Jennifer Rossi

Morchella
An inventive Northeast Portland restaurant dedicated to wild and foraged foods like morels, dandelion greens, and venison. If you love mushrooms you should definitely check it out.

Alesha Hanson

Por Que No
A Portland favorite with locations on Southeast Hawthorne Blvd. and North Mississippi Ave., I love that when I went there for my birthday on a Monday, there was no line and lots of seating. They have lots of vegan and gluten-free options and it is affordable.

Increasing Rates

We want to give you a heads up that we are seeing some dramatically increasing premiums this year. There are several reasons for this. Inflation and supply chain issues have been causing costs to soar for parts and building materials. The insurance industry is also seeing significantly more home and auto claims this year. Car accidents reached a 16-year high in 2021, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In Portland, vehicle thefts have tripled over the past decade. Climate change is causing bigger storms, more fires, and other unusual weather damage all leading to more and bigger homeowners claims. This puts pressure on the entire insurance industry to increase prices.

The good news is that working with an independent agency gives you options. We work with multiple companies and we are knowledgeable about what discounts and coverage options are available to keep your rate as affordable as possible. We don't control the rates but we are dedicated to using our tools and knowledge to help you access available options.

We are working on reaching out to everyone to check in but if you haven’t heard from us yet and you see a large increase, please don’t panic. Just give us a call and we will review your policies and let you know what is available for you.
